A word about sensory processing and its role in all aspects of function

Sensory processing plays a crucial role in shaping our mental, physical, and sexual functions.

Mentally: it helps us process and make sense of the stimuli we encounter, which influences our cognition, focus, and emotional regulation.

Physically: sensory processing allows us to coordinate movements, maintain balance, and engage in activities essential for daily living. Dysfunction in sensory processing can manifest as motor coordination difficulties, increased or decreased sensitivity to sensory input, impacting physical abilities and comfort. Sexually: sensory processing affects arousal, pleasure, and intimacy by influencing sensory perception and response to stimuli. An individual's sensory processing profile can influence their sexual preferences, sensitivity, and overall sexual experiences.

There is a huge connection between sensory processing and various aspects of human functioning and it is always important to address, and treat it, as part of your therapeutic programme.
